Deena is back with Peter to go off on authors that feel the need so deeply for validation they are wiling to pay vanity publishers to get it. This a a rare episode where the gloves are off and Deena Rae gives straight talk in completely blunt and no holds-barred style.

When Deena Rae isn’t bitching, Peter actually gets to talk about a Facebook advertising method, and his favorite sheep of the day, Flossy….

Book Numbers, Booze and Barrett Brown:  In this week’s podcast Deena and Peter discuss the importance of owning your own ISBN numbers and the possibility of sharing them with other authors.  Also under the microscope is social media and as ever the booze, what the Scots call the bevvy.  Does a writer really need it?  Seems like these two do.  Peter also talks about imprisoned Texan writer Barrett Brown while Deena gets ready for a big date that wasn’t.

Deena is back with Peter this week. For a short show, there was plenty discussed…book length classifications, Google+ as well as Facebook Pages and Twitter, past lives,  book fairs and expos, just to name a few.  Deena tells about her experience thus far with publishing her own book and gives plugs to herself and Peter has to cut the show short since he develops a craving for Jägermeister. (Hence the intro and exit song by Tattooed Mother Fuckers)

Deena is back with Peter and Janet to kick the new year off right. We get to catch up with the 3 hosts to find out if Janet is still an aspiring author, if Peter has published anything this year, and if Deena has started a career in porn. Just kidding but she does make the leap into publishing her own book and gives plugs to herself.  We talk about promoting books, pricing them, puking, and Peter’s affinity for hugging wood and the pyromaniac tendencies of one of the hosts.

Deena and Mark Rice are joined by Anne-Marie Klein, author of Behind Blue Eyes: a work of rock fiction inspired by and named after The Who song.  Anne-Marie talks about the 30-year journey of writing, editing and re-editing her manuscript to a state of readiness.  Meticulously researched, the book resulted in The Who’s Pete Townshend sending Anne-Marie a hand-written thank-you note.  Deena discusses the bridge between music and literature, a bridge that both Anne-Marie and Mark helped to build with their rock-themed novels.  All three conspirators confess to hilarious childhood misunderstandings of lyrics by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Kenny Rogers, and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.  Some unlikely-but-true cover versions are unveiled.
